Former permanent secretary at the UK DCMS and the ambassador visit the governor

On Thursday, April 17, Sir Jonathan Stephens, former UK Permanent Secretary at the Department for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, and H.E. Mr. Timothy Mark Hitchens, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Japan, paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe.

Sir Jonathan was the lead government official responsible for the successful delivery of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

During the meeting, the governor said, "As Tokyo will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020, I would like to learn a lot from your experience with the 2012 London Games, so we can successfully deliver the best-ever Games. I hope to welcome many athletes and spectators from the United Kingdom." He also added that "With Tokyo and London enjoying close ties, I hope we can further cooperation between the two cities, and the two countries, not only in areas related to the Tokyo 2020 Games, but also in various other areas."
