ロンドン・ベルリン出張（ベルリン市長と面会・合意書締結）
Official visit to London and Berlin (Meeting with the Mayor of Berlin)
平成26（2014）年10月29日（水曜）、クラウス・ヴォーヴェライト ベルリン市長と面会し、東京都とベルリン市が、1994年5月14日の友好都市関係締結以来築いてきた友好関係を、互いの市民にとって役立つものとするため、都市づくり、環境、文化交流の分野において緊密な交流・協力を行うことを確認し、合意書を締結しました。
その後知事は、記者団に対し、「ただ今、市長と、東京とベルリンとの間の協定にサインをいたしました。これは、都市計画・環境問題・そして文化と、様々な分野で二つの都市が更に協力関係を結ぼうという協定であります。友好都市締結から20周年になりますので、こういう機会に来ることができたのは、大変うれしく思います。東西両ベルリンの壁がなくなりひとつになって、新しい町、古い町が混在している。それをどういう風に都市計画するか大変御苦労されています。東京もオリンピック・パラリンピックを前に同じような苦労をしてますから、そういう点も協力したい。それからベルリンに限らずドイツは環境問題の先進国なので、環境についてもお互いに経験を共有したいと思います。これを機会に、ベルリンと東京の関係をより充実したものにしたいと思っています」と話しました。
On Wednesday, October 29, Governor Masuzoe met with the Governing Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit. In order to make the friendship city agreement between Tokyo and Berlin entered into on May 14, 1994 more beneficial to the citizens of both cities, the governor and mayor signed a memorandum of understanding confirming that close exchange and cooperation will be carried out in the areas of urban planning, the environment, and cultural exchange.
Following the meeting, the governor told the media gathered, “The mayor and I have just signed an agreement between Berlin and Tokyo. This is an agreement that aims to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two cities in a variety of areas such as urban planning, the environment, and culture. Since it is the 20th anniversary of our friendship city relationship, I am very happy to have been able to come on such an occasion. The wall between East and West Berlin is gone, and the two cities are now one. With new and old sections of the city coexisting side-by-side, urban planning must be a great challenge. Tokyo is also going through similar difficulties as we plan for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As such, I hope that we can also work together on such issues. Furthermore, not only the city of Berlin, but the entire country of Germany is highly advanced with respect to environmental issues, and I hope that we can share our mutual expertise in this area. I want to take this opportunity to make the Berlin-Tokyo relationship an even more productive one.”
