Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games
平成26（2014）年10月10日（金曜）、「1964東京オリンピック・パラリンピック 50周年記念祝賀会」に出席しました。
この「祝賀会」は、1964年東京オリンピック・パラリンピック競技大会の開会式から50年となる節目の日に、皇太子殿下ご臨席の下、安倍総理大臣やIOC関係者、1964年大会に出場した国内外の選手等を招いて開催されました。
知事は、開催都市の首長として「1964年東京大会は、多くの日本人にとって、戦後の日本の復興の象徴として記憶されております。オリンピックが映し出した未来に新しい時代の到来を感じとっておりました。私は、2回目となります東京オリンピック・パラリンピック競技大会を、2020年に向かって、そして更に、その先の未来にも、人々に夢と希望を示すものとしたいと考えております。『史上最高、世界一の大会』となるよう、万全の準備を進め、世界の方々を最高のおもてなしでお迎えし、『世界一の都市・東京』を実現していきたいと考えています。また、東日本大震災の被災県など全国の自治体とも連携しまして、日本全体の発展に繋げてまいりたいと思っております」と挨拶しました。
On Friday, October 10, the governor attended the Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The celebration, which was held on the same historic day that the Opening Ceremony of the 1964 Olympic and Paralympic Games was held 50 years ago, was attended by His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince. In addition, Prime Minister Abe, IOC representatives, and a number of athletes from Japan and abroad who participated in the 1964 Games were invited to attend.
At the ceremony, the governor gave an address as the head of the host city, saying that for a great many Japanese people, the Tokyo 1964 Games were the symbol of the recovery of post-war Japan. He further expressed his commitment to carry forward every possible preparation and provide the finest hospitality to visitors from around the world, to make the second Olympic Games held in Tokyo the greatest the world has ever seen.
