第17回アジア競技大会開会式出席、及び仁川市長と面会
Governor attends the 17th Asian Games opening ceremony, meets with Incheon Mayor
平成26（2014）年9月19日（金曜）から21日（日曜）まで、第17回アジア競技大会開会式への招待を受け、開会式に出席するため、仁川（大韓民国）を訪問しました。
現地では、開会式に出席したほか、競技施設の視察や、JOC主催レセプションで、アジア地域のIOC委員等に招致活動への協力に対する謝意を表しました。また、開催都市である仁川市の劉正福（ユ ジョンボク）市長と面会し、財政問題や施設の後利用等について意見交換を行いました。
知事は、21日帰国し、羽田空港において記者団に対し、「公共交通機関がバスしかなく、会場周辺が混雑していて時間がかかる等、交通アクセスの課題を感じました。ただ、開会式のパフォーマンスを含めて、すばらしい演出をなされたし、アジアが一つであるというメッセージを伝える若々しい大会であったと思います。短期間でしたが、2020年に向けて参考になる点をたくさん聞くことができたし、見ることができたと思っています。劉正福（ユ ジョンボク）仁川市長とも、施設の後利用の問題を話しましたが、東京も既存の施設を活用しながら、プラスのレガシーとして都民に残るものを作ることが大事だと思います」と話しました。
Having been invited to attend the opening ceremony of the 17th Asian Games, Governor Masuzoe visited Incheon, South Korea, from September 19 to September 21.
During the trip, the governor attended the opening ceremony, visited event venues for the Games, and, at a reception organized by the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), conveyed his gratitude to International Olympic Committee (IOC) members from Asian countries and others for their support of Tokyo’s bid to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He also visited Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok of Incheon, the host city of the Asian Games, and exchanged views on financial issues as well as post-Games utilization of event venues.
Returning to Japan, Governor Masuzoe told reporters at Haneda Airport, “I found some problems with transportation access; buses were the only public transportation means, and a traffic jam around an event venue was making the travel time longer. But the opening ceremony, including the show, was performed superbly, and the Games were full of vitality and successfully conveyed the theme “Asia is one.” Although it was a short trip, I was able to see and hear many things that give us useful clues for our preparations for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Also, I talked with Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok about ways to utilize venues after the event. I think it is also essential for Tokyo to make good use of existing facilities and leave positive Olympic legacies that will be appreciated by Tokyo residents in the future.”
