Tokyo Marathon 2013
平成25（2013）年2月24日（日曜）、東京マラソン2013が行われました。今回の東京マラソンは、ワールドマラソンメジャーズ加入後、初めて開催された記念すべき大会です。
スタートに先立ち、猪瀬知事は、駆けつけた上田埼玉県知事、森田千葉県知事、黒岩神奈川県知事とともに、「2020オリンピック・パラリンピック招致宣言」を行い、今後の招致活動で連携していくことを表明しました。
The Tokyo Marathon 2013 took place on Sunday, February 24, the first race since it joined the World Marathon Majors.
Prior to the start of the race, Governor Inose and the leaders from adjacent prefectures (Saitama Governor Ueda, Chiba Governor Morita and Kanagawa Governor Kuroiwa) declared that they will work together in Tokyo’s bid for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
スタート直前の挨拶では、「東京マラソンを成功させて、2020年オリンピック・パラリンピックを、どうしても招致したい。皆さんとともに、オリンピック・パラリンピックを迎えましょう」「皆さん、ゴールまで、日頃の実力を発揮してください」とランナーを激励しました。
Governor Inose said, just before the start, “We will make the Tokyo Marathon a success, and will definitely win the bid for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Please join us in our efforts to bring the Games to Tokyo.” He also encouraged runners, saying, “I hope you can bring out the best of your abilities throughout the race.”

午後には、東京マラソンファミリーラン2013に参加し、東京臨海広域防災公園からマラソンゴールまでの1.8キロメートルのコースを、多くの小学生親子とともに走りました。
In the afternoon, the governor took part in the Tokyo Marathon Family Run 2013, completing the 1.8-kilometer course from the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park to the finish gate with many elementary school children and their parents.

スタートから7時間後の時間制限ぎりぎりに最後の力を振り絞って駆け込んでくるランナーを応援。最終ランナーに、ねぎらいの言葉をかけました。
The governor also cheered for the final runner, who crossed the finish line barely within the seven-hour time limit.
最終ランナーのゴール後、知事は記者に囲まれ、「スポーツの力は心をさらに明るくし、閉塞感を打ち破る力になる」「東京マラソンで改めて、力をもらいました。インスパイアされた気持ちで、IOC調査団を迎えたい、非常に元気が沸いてきました」と話し、オリンピック・パラリンピック招致への決意を新たにしました。
After the last runner finished the race, the governor told the media that the event strengthened his resolve to bring the 2020 Games to Tokyo. “Sports have the power of lifting people’s spirits, helping them feel more positive,” said the governor. “The Tokyo Marathon gave me courage. I am inspired and ready to meet with the IOC inspection team. I am very excited.”
