Two projects related to building business models for autonomous vehicle technology selected!
Autonomous driving projects to be carried out in the city center and islands this fiscal year.

Not only does autonomous vehicle technology carry large significance as a growth strategy for Japan, but it also has the potential to resolve Tokyo’s social challenges.

As part of its efforts to further accelerate practical application of autonomous driving technology, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) is implementing a program to support self-driving businesses and transportation providers in developing business models that combine autonomous driving technology and other advanced information and communication technologies. Projects to be supported under the program this fiscal year have been selected as follows.

1. Program Overview

Nippon Koei Co., Ltd., a TMG-commissioned Program Promoter, publicly called for business model projects that combined self-driving technology and other advanced ICT technologies, and selected outstanding projects through an external expert review. The selected projects will be rolled out in Tokyo with the support of the Program Promoter. Two-week field tests are scheduled to be conducted for each project.
