Ceremony to Mark 1 Year to Go to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government, along with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020), will host a ceremony on Wednesday 24 July to mark the one-year milestone to the opening of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and to send this message out to the world. National federations, stakeholders of host city Tokyo, leaders of municipalities where venues are located, ambassadors and other dignitaries will be invited to this ceremony, which will be held as follows.

Wednesday 24 July 2019 from 14:00 to 15:30

Tokyo International Forum, Hall A (3-5-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

4. Content:

  • Unveiling of the design of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic medals
  • Ceremonial handing over of Tokyo 2020’s invitation to National Olympic Committee representatives by the IOC
  • Promotion of the Tokyo 2020 Torch Relay

Note 1) At the venue, “Tokyo 2020 Let’s 55 Event - 1 Year to Go to the Olympic Games,” where the general public can try their hand at Olympic sports, will also be held.
