Rugby World Cup 2019TM Japan Tournament 100-Day Countdown Event

The Rugby World Cup 2019TM Japan Tournament is finally set to begin on September 20 at Tokyo Stadium.

To build further momentum in the final 100 days before the tournament, Tokyo will be hosting a Rugby World Cup 2019TM Japan Tournament 100-Day Countdown Event in Marunouchi on June 16.

Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike will be attending this event, featuring a fun-filled program that includes a talk show with Rugby World Cup 2019TM Host City Special Supporters (Tokyo) Kensuke Hatakeyama and Hirona Yamazaki discussing the best ways of enjoying the sporting spectacle only 100 days away -- a must-see!

1. Rugby World Cup 2019TM Japan Tournament 100-Day Countdown Event

    *Wheelchair users can utilize the ramp at Marunouchi South Exit; the venue is about one minute from Marunouchi South Exit
  • Direct access from Tokyo Station (Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line) and Nijubashimae Station (Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line)
    *Wheelchair users can utilize the elevator outside the Tokyo Station ticket gates in the direction of Marunouchi Building.

Rugby World Cup 2019TM Host City Special Supporters are groups of supporters representing host cities.
Serving as Tokyo’s Host City Special Supporters are:

  • Kensuke Hatakeyama (professional rugby player)
  • Ken Watabe (comedian) and
  • Hirona Yamazaki (actress).

2. Tokyo Metropolitan Main Building No. 1 and other locations to be illuminated!

(1) Details

To commemorate the start of the 100-day countdown to the tournament, Tokyo Metropolitan Main Building No. 1 and other locations will be illuminated in white and red, the colors of Ren-G, the Rugby World Cup 2019TM Japan Tournament’s official mascot.

  3. Olympic Memorial Tower, Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground (Wednesday, June 12-Sunday, June 16, 2019, 18:30-21:00)

*With the cooperation of the Tokyo Waterfront City Association, Tokyo Waterfront City will also be illuminated in white and red on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

3. Change to opening hours of “Rugby Information Hub”

Please note that the opening hours for the “Rugby Information Hub” set up in the Tokyo Sports Square Annex will change starting Saturday, May 25.

(1) Opening hours

11:30-19:00 (previously 12:30-20:00)

(2) Days closed

The facility will be closed for one day each week
*The specific dates will be posted on the Tokyo Rugby Information website, SNS, etc.

(3) Displays

  • Photo spot
    *Visitors can take photos of themselves wearing a uniform from a national team playing in Tokyo.
  • Information Corner
  • Display of goods signed by rugby players
  • Screening of various PR videos
  • Rugby Reading Corner, Supporter Message Posting Corner, etc.
  • Visitors who take part in the venue’s SNS campaign will receive an original item as a present!

  • One-minute walk from Kyobashi Exit, JR Yurakucho Station
    *Wheelchair users can utilize the elevator at the Central Exit; the venue is about three minutes from the Central Exit.
  • Immediate access from Exit D9, Yurakucho Station (Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line)
    *Wheelchair users can utilize the elevator at Exit D7; the venue is about one minute from Exit D7.

Rugby World Cup 2019TM, Japan will be held from September 20 through November 2, 2019, at 12 venues located across Japan. The Opening Ceremony and eight matches, including the opening match, will be held at Tokyo Stadium.
