Message from Governor Koike on the Announcement of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Competition Schedule

Today, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games set forth the official competition schedule by session for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games after its approval by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Governor Yuriko Koike issued the following statement in regard to this news:

Yuriko Koike, Governor of Tokyo

The IPC today approved the competition schedule for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Tokyo will be the first city in history to host the Paralympic Summer Games for a second time, and I firmly believe the success of the Paralympics will be central to the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.

To make the Paralympic Games a success, I hope that everyone will learn about and become fans of the Paralympic competition and the athletes. At the Tokyo 2020 Games, I encourage everyone to come to the competition venues to cheer on the athletes gathering here from around the world.

We will continue to work with renewed vigor with the Organising Committee and other entities involved with the Tokyo 2020 Games to make them a success.
