On Thursday, September 21, Governor Koike met with Ambassador Arifin Tasrif of the Republic of Indonesia at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

As 2018 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Indonesia, the governor said, “I sincerely look forward to seeing the friendship built between our two countries over the past 60 years bloom even more.”The governor also informed Ambassador Tasrif that 2019 will mark the 30th anniversary of establishment of friendship city relations between Tokyo and Jakarta, and that she had met with the governor-elect of Jakarta in July.

Ambassador Tasrif responded by saying, “I hope that the events commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Japan and Indonesia, scheduled to be held around Japan, including Hibiya Park, will be successful with a large attendance,” and “I would like to strengthen cooperation between Jakarta and Tokyo by continuing to hold various programs.”
