前英国文化・オリンピック・メディア・スポーツ省事務次官及び駐日英国大使が知事を訪問
Former permanent secretary at the UK DCMS and the ambassador visit the governor
平成26（2014）年4月17日（木曜）、舛添知事は、都庁を訪れたジョナサン・スティーブンス前英国文化・オリンピック・メディア・スポーツ省事務次官兼2012ロンドンオリンピック・パラリンピック政府調整担当及びティモシー・マーク・ヒッチンズ駐日英国大使と面会しました。
知事は、「2020年に東京でオリンピック・パラリンピックを開きますので、2012年のロンドンオリンピック・パラリンピックの経験を色々と聞かせいただいて、史上最高の大会として成功させたいと思います。イギリスから、ぜひ多くの選手の皆様、観客の皆様にお越しいただきたいと考えております」と述べるとともに「東京とロンドンは大変親しい都市でありますので、東京オリンピック・パラリンピックのみならず、様々な分野においても、今後、ロンドン・東京間、そしてイギリス・日本間の協力を進めていきたいと思います」と話しました。
On Thursday, April 17, Sir Jonathan Stephens, former UK Permanent Secretary at the Department for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, and H.E. Mr. Timothy Mark Hitchens, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Japan, paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe.
Sir Jonathan was the lead government official responsible for the successful delivery of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
During the meeting, the governor said, “As Tokyo will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020, I would like to learn a lot from your experience with the 2012 London Games, so we can successfully deliver the best-ever Games. I hope to welcome many athletes and spectators from the United Kingdom.” He also added that “With Tokyo and London enjoying close ties, I hope we can further cooperation between the two cities, and the two countries, not only in areas related to the Tokyo 2020 Games, but also in various other areas.”
