Outline of the New Cruise Ship Terminal Building

The Bureau of Port and Harbor, Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) plans to construct a new cruise ship pier to accept the largest cruise ship in the world by 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. We today announced that outline of the new cruise ship terminal building have been decided.

Structure of the New Cruise Ship Terminal

  • Steel construction, a three-story building
  • Site area (planned) : Approximately 15,000㎡, 40m long, 130m wide

Characteristics of the New Cruise Ship Terminal

  • Dynamic Large Roof
    The roof images “Sea Wave”, “Ship Sail” and “Curve of the roof in traditional Japanese touch”.
  • Expansive Lobby Space
    A high ceiling and natural light through top light make expansive and comfortable lobby space.
  • Creating Japaneseness by using wood
    The interior makes use of wood. The wood of Tama Area (Western part of Tokyo) may be used in execution design.
  • Using Natural Energy
    Natural energy such as solar power will be utilized in the large roof.
