The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will establish the Business Development Center Tokyo, a one-stop English-speaking business consultation desk, to support foreign companies in setting up offices in Tokyo's Special Zone for Asian Headquarters* and conducting business in Japan.

Operations commissioned by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd.

6. Main Business Activities

Full-time Japanese-English bilingual staff will provide consultation and answer questions about business customs and other matters related to conducting business in Japan and life in Tokyo.

Business Support

Consultation services and support for procedures from establishing a company to developing sales channels will be provided.

  • Introduce professional service providers suitable for the business contents and needs of the foreign company.
  • Support business match-ups and exchanges between foreign companies and Japanese companies through Tokyo 21c Club, the business club of EGG JAPAN (Entrepreneur Group for Growing Japan).
  • Support business development by providing assistance in matters such as the formulation of business models, financing, and intellectual property strategies.

Life Support

Information that can help foreign company employees and their families in their daily life in Tokyo will be offered, and consultation and answers to their questions will be provided. Services include:

  • Provision of information on life in Tokyo and administrative procedures.
  • Introduction of hospitals with staff who can speak foreign languages and schools conducting classes in foreign languages, including international schools.

*Special Zone for Asian Headquarters is the comprehensive name for areas in Tokyo where the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is implementing a new program to attract foreign companies. Over 500 foreign companies, including 50 Asian regional headquarters/R&D centers, are planned to be attracted to this zone by 2016.
