A summary of key decisions made at the General Session and Executive Board Meeting of the TOKYO 2016 Olympic Games Bid Committee held on May 22, 2007 is as follows.

1. Appointment of TOKYO 2016 Bid Ambassadors

Ms. Yuko Arimori, Mr. Senichi Hoshino and Mr. Yasuhiro Yamashita were appointed as the first TOKYO 2016 Bid Ambassadors. The Bid Ambassadors will enliven bid promotion activities by participating in related events and contributing messages of support and solidarity to be used in pamphlets and other materials.

2. Basic Concept for the Main Stadium

1) Stadium location

The main stadium will be built as a metropolitan facility in the Harumi area.

2) Construction cost

Approximately 100 billion yen
The Committee will explore possibilities to make the utmost use of private-sector funds through Private Finance Initiatives (PFI), etc., and to procure funds from the central government.

3) Post-Olympic use of the stadium

After the Olympics, the Main Stadium will not only be used as a Class I certified athletics stadium for large national and international sports events, but will also be a multipurpose facility that can be used to hold concerts and other events.

4) Other

The Kasumigaoka National Stadium in the Jingu Gaien area will be renovated and used for soccer events.
