PRINCIPAL POLICIES OF THE TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT

TOKYO’S URBAN STRATEGY
“TOKYO’S BIG CHANGE: THE 10-YEAR PLAN”

Three perspectives of the 10-Year Plan

The 10-Year Plan was drawn up in line with the following three perspectives.

(1)Open up the future with scientific knowledge and cutting-edge technological capabilities

Present the world with "dreams" for urban society by applying Japan’s advanced science and cutting-edge technologies to real-life use in a wide range of fields from energy-saving devices to state-of-the-art medical care, robots, and ubiquitous computing.

(2)Present new systems for human resources development from Tokyo

Realigning systems for the development of human resources could be one of the most important issues facing Japan in the 21st century. By expanding options and establishing multiple routes for development through the full utilization of Tokyo’s rich resources, new models for human resources development will be proposed and presented.

(3)Achieve prosperity through cooperation and solidarity with Asian cities

Asia is the most dynamically developing region in the world today. Closer cooperation and solidarity with this region through exchanges not only in the field of economy, but in sports and culture as well, will provide a major opportunity to bring prosperity and peace to the world.
