On Wednesday, March 25, The Rt. Hon. John Key, Prime Minister of New Zealand, paid a courtesy call on Governor Masuzoe. The meeting was also attended by students who took part in the New Zealand government’s “Game On English” language and rugby program, as well as those who will participate this year.

During the meeting, the governor said, “I am impressed that New Zealand is so committed to youth exchange. I think the program presents a wonderful opportunity to learn English and play rugby at the same time. In 2019, the Rugby World Cup will take place in Japan, and we will host the Olympic and Paralympic Games the following year. We hope to learn from New Zealand’s experience to ensure these events will be hugely successful. New Zealand won the Rugby World Cup twice, so maybe you could share secret to winning with the young people of our country. I would like to take this opportunity to work to further deepen the relationship between Tokyo and New Zealand.”
